In my own personal and professional life, I've seen how trauma, no matter how big or small, can have profound impacts on our lives. So profound, that without the proper tools and support, the trauma can completely take over. Depriving us of the life we were meant to live. My own journey of survivorship from relationship violence has not been easy, but I can tell you it has been 100% worth it. And, guess what.....the work of seeking healing and recovery will be worth it for you too.

MY EDUCATION & TRAINING
I have a BS & BA in Business Administration & Dance Studies, an MS/EdS in Couples & Family Counseling, and a Doctorate in Counseling & Counselor Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
MY THEORETICAL APPROACH:
In my work, I tend to incorporate various theoretical lenses, including family systems and psychodynamic approaches, Emotionally-Focused Therapy for couples, and trauma-informed care, all from a strength-based approach.
I have experience working in primarily outpatient clinical settings, including community mental health, college counseling clinics, and private agency organizations. My clinical experience has involved working with a variety of client populations (e.g., children, adults, couples and families) and presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship/family issues, history of trauma, intimate partner violence, academic/career challenges, and identity-related concerns. I also have experience teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level and as a clinical supervisor to masters and doctoral-level students in counselor training.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (A12767). I'm also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
In my spare time, I enjoy watching movies, attending live concerts, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. My love for dancing also helps me move my body in ways that feel good and allow me to enjoy spending time with my husband and other loved ones!
